Employer Registration for YIP
The Youth Internship Program (YIP) places international students between the ages of 14 and 18 into positions with local companies and volunteer organizations during the June/July summer holiday period.
The Youth Internship Program has been designed to provide a meaningful work experience to students while giving them earlier insight into potential career paths and fields of study. Students are interested in all types of work, from fast food and retail to legal work and architecture. The program also benefits companies. You’ll get temporary support for projects, whether it’s to fill staff shortages or to help with routine projects. We’ll be publicizing companies that participate, so your firm will get great visibility.
How it works:
- Summer employment and internship opportunities are gathered via on-line application beginning in January.
- A student employee candidate pool is established during March and April. Students are then screened and matched to employer job descriptions. Resumes will be forwarded to the employer for interview and hiring beginning in April.
- Internships should be 4-8 weeks in length and begin in June or July depending upon need. Positions may be paid or un-paid but must be stated in the job description.
Let’s work together to make this program the success our community deserves! Send us your summer jobs, project opportunities and volunteer positions now.
