Take the Drama Out of Public Speaking

Take the drama out of Public Speaking – 5 things you can learn from the world of theatre

In this interactive session we will explore your presentation style and delivery. You’ll be involved in group discussions, paired, group and individual exercises and structured feedback sessions in the following key areas:

  • Know your lines, experiment with the delivery – practical exercises developing your voice and physicality,  getting you ready to engage any audience.
  • Find a helpful director – discussing the importance of rehearsal and simulating the process of giving/getting valuable feedback.
  • Who’s in the audience? – learning to switch from self-focus and fear to thinking about what your audience need and how you want them to feel. Visualization exercise to experience different connections with an audience
  • Opening night nerves – breathing exercises to help channel nervous energy and discussion to debunk The Nerves Myth.
  • The world of the play and its characters – learning to trust what we have practiced and immerse ourselves in the act of sharing our speeches, staying in the moment and out of our heads.

Theatre actress, Victoria, brings a fresh perspective to presentation skills training. We coach you in the performance elements of a good speech or pitch: stage presence; audience connection; voice; and body language. But we don’t want to see you put on an act, you’ll learn to share your work in an expressive and completely natural style. We take a practical and personable approach to working with people from all kinds of industries. Using our theatre expertise, we will explore how to engage an audience and take them with you, how to stay in the moment even when things go wrong, and crucially, how you can bring about change in those that attend your presentations and pitches.
