Take the drama out of Public Speaking – 5 things you can learn from the world of theatre
In this interactive session we will explore your presentation style and delivery. You’ll be involved in group discussions, paired, group and individual exercises and structured feedback sessions in the following key areas:
Know your lines, experiment with the delivery – practical exercises developing your voice and physicality, getting you ready to engage any audience.
Find a helpful director – discussing the importance of rehearsal and simulating the process of giving/getting valuable feedback.
Who’s in the audience? – learning to switch from self-focus and fear to thinking about what your audience need and how you want them to feel. Visualization exercise to experience different connections with an audience
Opening night nerves – breathing exercises to help channel nervous energy and discussion to debunk The Nerves Myth.
The world of the play and its characters – learning to trust what we have practiced and immerse ourselves in the act of sharing our speeches, staying in the moment and out of our heads.
