Teacher Night: Dinner and Theater

Come join AAS for a special evening dedicated to Teaching Staff and School Administrators. Join others in education at Miss Julie, a play about a dangerous game of ambition, power and lust co-produced by Singapore Repertory Theatre and Hong Kong Arts Festival.

ABOUT

Playwright Amy Ng’s adaptation of August Strindberg’s Miss Julie transports us into a tumultuous era, where the disintegration of the British Empire is set against the rising consciousness of nationalism sweeping across Asia. 

It’s Chinese New Year and celebrations are in full swing across post-war Singapore. Julie, daughter of a British tycoon, crashes the servants’ party downstairs. But what starts as a game descends into a fight for survival, as sex, power, money and race collide.

This is a startlingly provocative play where differences of class and race rub against each other like tectonic plates, resulting in an eruption of sexual powerplay and class manipulation.

TEACHERS' NIGHT

Our last Teachers' Night at the theater was hugely popular so we thought we would organize another evening especially for many of our members who are Teachers and School Admins! While Safe Distancing Measures are still to be enforced, we hope that evenings like these will offer a way for education professionals across schools to network and get to know one another. 

SEATING

Seating will be allocated based on the order or tickets purchased. Seats are arranged in groups of two. If you require any special seating arrangements, please email us at events@aasingapore.com.

SAFE DISTANCING MEASURES

If you are fully vaccinated (crossed the 14th day after your second dose) you are exempted from getting a Pre-Event Testing (PET), which is otherwise a requirement for entry.  As there will be no service provided for PET onsite, kindly conduct your own PET at MOH-approved clinics, and bring along a copy of your test results for verification. The results need to be valid till the end of the performance date and time you selected. Patrons will pay for their own testing.

To ensure everyone’s safety and well-being, the following measures will be in place: TraceTogether, SafeEntry, temperature scanning, physical distancing, limiting audience numbers and cleaning and disinfection before and after every performance.

All patrons are required to use the TraceTogether app or to bring their TraceTogether token in order to enter the venue.
