Beutler, international tax attorney & registered foreign attorney in Singapore affiliated with the law firm Hin Tat Augustine & Partners and U.S. Tax Professionals Amanda St. Claire & Ana Brugh of American Expat Tax Services, PL. Whether you have just left the United States to start your life in Singapore or have lived overseas for decades this informational session will take you through some of the more complex areas of U.S. Estate and Tax law and provide a forum to have your general questions answered about the taxation of U.S. persons residing abroad. There will be a follow up session with the same speakers on May 9th that will address Tax Compliance issues unique to U.S. owners of foreign registered businesses (SMEs) and the taxation of foreign investments.
Part One (930 am-11:00 am): Todd Beutler will be discussing Estate Planning and the Use of Wills and Trusts with a special emphasis on estate planning for non-US spouses. Related to this topic is the use of the expiring exemption in 2012 and planning opportunities. He will also discuss the continuing tax amnesty program- OVDP-and issues associated with legal privilege and a general overview of tax compliance for U.S. Persons Living Abroad.
Part Two (11:00am-12pm): Tax Compliance: Question and Answer Session lead by Amanda St. Claire & Ana Brugh. (Participants will be given an opportunity to submit their questions after registration directly to the presenters or at the beginning of the presentation.)
