The International Women’s Working Group was formed in January 2019, when a group of women first came together and collectively built a dream to jointly organise the first International Women’s Day (IWD) event at The American Club Singapore.

In March 2019, after numerous discussions, we launched our inaugural IWD evening, receiving an overwhelming response which filled The Galbraith Ballroom to capacity. We were thankful for the speakers, panelists and performers who each played a pivotal role in shaping a fulfilling evening. We were equally thrilled and inspired by the response to our first jointly-held women’s event at The American Club Singapore.

As a collective consisting of The American Club Singapore, The American Chamber of Commerce, The Canadian Chamber of Commerce, American Women’s Association, American Association of Singapore and Canadian Association of Singapore, we believe in the synergy of collaboration and we recognize events as a powerful platform for people to come together to engage in deeper conversation, create community and celebrate one another. The global pandemic in 2020 put our planned March 2020 evening on pause, but, energetic and undeterred, we continued our collaboration in the background while waiting for the right time to bring the community together again.

In August 2020, we will launch our first virtual women’s event, themed Celebrating Women in a Time of Change. We are delighted that three outstanding women have accepted our invitation to join us on a panel - H.E. Lynn Macdonald, High Commissioner of Canada to Singapore, H.E. Margriet Vonno, Ambassador of the Netherlands to Singapore and Brunei and Dr Hsien-Hsien Lei, CEO, The American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore. We are also excited to have the Singapore American School All Girl’s Choir perform acapella for attendees that evening.

We warmly invite you to join us as we come together on Monday, August 31, 2020. We look forward to sharing with you an evening of conversation, stories and entertainment.
