Working Within the New Normal
Part 1: Managing Emotions and Relationships

Hosted by Lissy Puno & Liz Coward

In September and November, we will be hosting a two-part series focusing on "Working Within the New Normal,” in particular, working from home (WFH).

Our September session features guest speaker Lissy Puno, who will explore "Managing Emotions and Relationships."

About the session:
Working from home was the directive soon after lockdown started. Initial research showed that working from home ensured productivity. Companies responded with swift efficiency to ensure this transition provided all that employees needed to continue working from home. The novelty of the experience allowed individuals to hold on to the positive aspects of working from home and to keep safe.

As weeks turned into months, moods began shifting towards negative emotions. Those who lived with families struggled with maintaining boundaries between home life and the work life; individuals who lived alone found it challenging to be isolated and lonely; others who needed more support and supervision started to find it difficult to focus and complete tasks. What emerged was a question about purpose and motivation.

This session will address these issues and will offer strategies for moving forward. If you continue to work from home, explore how you can make the most of this experience; if you are returning back to work, understand what working within the new normal could mean to you; and if you are exploring the possibilities of finding work, know what to expect as you onboard into the "new" workplace from home.

Topics covered:

  • Managing yourself: Understanding stress, worry & anxiety
  • What to expect with the WFH experience: Managing the role and tasks at hand
  • Safeguard relationships while on WFH: Set boundaries
  • Be your own emotional coach: Tips, tools & techniques to maintain wellbeing

SAVE THE DATE!
On November 24, we will host Part 2 of the series - "Working Within the New Normal: Creating A New Working Model."

'At the Table' is a networking and career group for women, featuring an ongoing series of regular events to exchange views and ideas in an open and welcoming environment. Each get-together highlights a professional topic for discussion, and our guest speakers share their insights from their area of expertise to ensure that the session adds value and that there are meaningful takeaways.
