Halloween in Singapore 2025

Cartoon Halloween scene with witch, mummy, vampire, and skeleton. Happy Halloween text. Moonlit night with ghost, owl, pumpkins, and bats.

Halloween is a perennial favorite of kids in America, and who can blame them? It’s the one day you’re allowed to take candy from strangers, all while dressed up as your favorite person, animal, or character (or sometimes even object – I still remember the year my brother dressed up as a school bus!). Halloween has seriously gained popularity in Singapore, particularly in the Woodlands neighborhood near Singapore American School, when it comes to decorations and trick-or-treating.

Halloween night in Singapore is a sight to behold on the narrow streets of the Woodlands neighborhood. The roads are crowded as hordes of people, children and adults alike, weave through, going house to house for candy. The large houses of the neighborhood are decked out with incredible decorations, with some residents going all out with sound effects and smoke machines. It's truly a sight to behold. Keep in mind that younger kids may become overwhelmed or even scared by some of the decorations or costumes they might see. If you take little ones, plan on going earlier in the evening, before it gets jam-packed. Also, keep in mind that this is a residential neighborhood – be respectful of those who live there, and consider bringing candy to donate to a few houses to help replenish their supplies.

Other neighborhoods in Singapore also typically host Halloween trick-or-treating on a smaller scale, including Sembawang, Chip Bee Gardens, Watten Estate, Opera Estate, and many larger condo developments.

Costumes

If your child has decided early enough what they want to be for Halloween, you can always order online from sites like Amazon, or Lazada. But what if they have left it to the week before Halloween? Spotlight already has a large range of costumes and decorations on display. If you’re more of a DIY enthusiast and just need a few accents, you can try Daiso and its selection of decorative items and accessories. If you’re after something more intricate, check out Costumes n' Parties, Lips Enterprise,  Ministry of Costumes, or Party With Us.

What To Do

Don’t want your kids to have a bunch of candy, or have older kids who aren’t so interested in going door-to-door anymore? Singapore offers a variety of ways to celebrate Halloween without traditional trick-or-treating.

For teens and those who enjoy a fright, Universal Studios Singapore offers its annual Halloween Horror Nights, featuring four haunted houses, two scare zones, three live shows, and special experiences. Be sure to check out the advisory – this is not for the faint of heart!

SuperPark Singapore will have two Halloween experiences this year. By day, interactive trick-or-treat stations will allow kids to trade candy for science experiments. By night, things get spooky as monsters roam free, leading to jump scares and photo ops!

For a truly frightening experience, visit Haw Par Villa and Hell's Museum for its fourth and final Haw Ror Villa 4. For its final Halloween event, Haw Par Villa will create three zones, including a haunted house, a ghostly guided tour, and a puzzle hunt. It will be a unique experience with a decidedly Asian twist!

Ghost hunters will find plenty of places around Singapore reported to be haunted by pontianaks, the spirits of deceased women in Southeast Asian folklore. Some of these areas include Sungei Api Api and Pasir Ris Park; the Nee Soon Rubber Estate near Sembawang; Old Tampines Road; Kubur Kassim, an old Malay cemetery; and Bukit Brown Cemetery. If you like the idea of going out into these places rumored to be haunted, but the scare factor is a step too far, be sure to check out HomeTeamNS's SpoOktober 2025 Mystery in the Heartlands, where various locations will be modeled after notoriously haunted spots.

Whatever you do on Halloween, you can rest assured that this American tradition has taken root firmly in Singapore! Once a niche celebration, it has grown into a full-blown event. The city now buzzes with trick-or-treating, eerie tours, and family-friendly events, showing that there’s room for both the spooky and the adorable. Whether you’re donning fangs or fairy wings, it’s clear that Singapore has fully embraced the spirit of Halloween.
