Not Your Typical Chinatown Tour

And here we are, in Phase 2 Heightened Alert again. Luckily, despite our new restrictions, the government is still allowing some mask-on, outdoor activities that adhere to safe distancing measures. Among these are local tours that help us (re)discover Singapore. Last Saturday, the American Association of Singapore (AAS) organized a Chinatown murder mystery-style tour. We are finding these themed tours as a really great way to meet some new people and also explore parts of the city in a fun, not just follow-the-tour-guide-waving-the-flag way.
During the Saturday morning tour, we had to use our detective skills to solve six different 'puzzles' to uncover the murderer on the loose. The clues took us from People's Park Complex, over to Pagoda Street, down to the colorful Hindu Temple, back to see the food stalls of Smith Street, up to the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and then with a final stop at the Chinatown Complex with its more than 700 vendor stalls, where we uncovered the final clues to solve the murder!!!
Despite the heat of the scorching Singapore sun, it was an unanimous, "This was so much fun!" from the participants!

Join us for other fun and exciting tours. The next one on the calendar is the Nostalgic Bike & Bite around Joo Chiat and Katong. This one takes us through the small streets of this East Coast part of town and is filled with yummy local foods. And yes, this event is still happening, despite the new restrictions. We are allowed today this and are completely following the guidelines. So why not join us and get out of the house!
