At the Table: A Networking & Career Group for Women
Managing Director - WTP The Furniture Company
Mimi Somjee, at an early age, spent a lot of time quietly observing her mother's keen sense of detail and her handpicking of furniture and other decorative items from their various travels all over the world. This formed the genesis of Mimi's passion for creating memorable living spaces and formed a source of abundant knowledge and inspiration.
After graduating from Oxford University with a Natural Science Degree In Physics, Mimi returned to Singapore to a choice of pursuing a career in banking or putting her passion to test. In a true spirit of entrepreneurship, she chose the latter. She saw an opportunity and responded to it. Mimi was committed to doing something meaningful in the area of rejuvenating heritage and culture in Singapore, which resulted in the birth of Window To The Past, a store filled with antique pieces with presence.
Over time, Mimi's labour of love scaled new heights and evolved to what is today- WTP, a furniture lifestyle store that houses over 3000 pieces from the classics to the contemporary, spread over three storeys. Mimi has been evolving business and design concepts at WTP, which is now in its 28th year, and now offers interior design, leasing, custom-made furniture, and contract sales.
In 2014, Mimi embarked on another new venture, as she along with her brothers forayed into real estate development in India with the creation of Raffles Park, a villa enclave in Bangalore. Real estate development forms much of her families legacy. The family has been instrumental in the creation of significant landmarks of Singapore as the city was growing into a vibrant metropolis as it stands today.
In 2018, Mimi entered the furniture market in India with MIMI Homes- offering a range of contemporary furniture bringing imagination, creativity and simplicity in perfect harmony. The brand aims to make its presence felt all over the country with a multi-channel approach in the future.
Mimi, keeps her spirit of entrepreneurship intact with an idea-filled approach and undying passion, in the pursuit of creating beautiful living spaces every day.

Tuyen Lamy is one-half of the dynamic duo behind Alcheme, a Singapore born-and-bred skincare brand that offers personalized and intentional skincare, by harnessing cutting-edge Facial Recognition technology to develop formulations uniquely tailored to each customer and their individual needs.
The idea for the brand originally came about when Tuyen was developing programmes for youths at risk at non-profit organization, Student Care Services (which has since been rebranded as Shine). Believing that its inspired values of self-care and empowerment were important to all women, she decided to expand on the original concept to bring bespoke skincare to women on a much larger scale.
Tuyen currently serves as Co-Founder and CEO of Alcheme, overseeing Product Development, Marketing & PR and Customer Engagement, and putting to use skills that she has picked up over the span of her illustrious career - which includes stints at Avon Cosmetics Asia and global beauty brand, Clarins.
Tuyen also draws on her multinational experiences as inspiration for her work. Having lived in France, the United States and Malaysia before moving to Singapore, she combines the best of French formulations with an acute understanding of Asian women and their skincare needs
to establish the brand’s unique point of difference.
With a Masters in Management from HEC Grandes Ecoles (Paris) and a specialization in Finance, Tuyen has her sights set on global expansion for Alcheme, and in the process, aims to change the way women think about and use skincare.
A rising entrepreneur, Tuyen would love to stretch the space-time continuum in order to build the Alcheme brand, while still spending quality moments with her husband and three young children, and indulging in her hobbies that include yoga, pattern making and slow clothing.
