Behind the Balestiers: The First American Residents of Singapore

Join us for a glass of wine and snacks as author Richard Hale tells us more about the fascinating story of Joseph Balestier and his family who arrived in Singapore from Philadelphia in 1834. Drawing from a newly discovered trove of letters written by Joseph's wife, Maria, Hale's book, The Balestiers, paints a powerful, vivid picture of Singapore life.
